Victorian Shellfish Quality Assurance Program results
|
The Department of Primary Industries runs the Victorian Shellfish Quality Assurance Program (VSQAP), which is part of the internationally recognised Australian Shellfish Quality Assurance Program (ASQAP). The VSQAP is a quality assurance program which tests seafood to ensure it is safe to eat. These tests monitor the shellfish and the presence of harmful algae in harvesting areas (fisheries reserves).
The VSQAP currently monitors the following aquaculture fisheries reserves: Clifton Springs, Grassy Point, Pinnace Channel, Dromana, Mount Martha and Flinders. These aquaculture fisheries reserves are subject to ongoing monitoring, an annual update report, and a triennial sanitation review. These reports are available on the Department of Primary Industries Victorian Seafood Quality Assurance Program website.
